Celebrate at Home - Flatten the curve

Celebrate at Home - Flatten the curve

Firstly I am wanting to send a big virtual hug to all of our loyal followers. Some of which are friends, family, previous customers, current customers and/or fellow party and event industry vendors. Many of you fall under more than one of the above. Either way though, we are all effected in some way, shape or form by the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

For that reason I wanted to share some happiness. I will begin by telling you a little bit about myself but before I do, please know that I am not a writer so please forgive me if this is not the most professional and well written blog you've ever read. I am a mother of two who is more often than not, smiling and/or laughing with my family and friends. Not surprisingly, one of the main reasons I run an online party, event and wedding supply business is because I love to celebrate life. Something that I believe with all of my heart is that life is a gift. Yes it's a common figure of speech and whilst I use it often, it's not one that I throw around lightly. You see, over the last 14 years I've lost both of my parents and some very dear friends. I know that each and everyone of them, even in these difficult and frightening times, would give anything to have just one more day on this earth. It has taught me that life is short, life is precious and life should NEVER be taken for granted. It's not only taught me that life is a gift but also that life should be celebrated.

Now that you know why I love to celebrate life, you won't be surprised to hear that I am devastated to hear about all of the parties and weddings that have had to be postponed or cancelled due to the current social distancing laws. Baby and Bridal Showers, Engagement parties, weddings, christenings, birthday parties and more! So what do we do in this time of social distancing? How do we tell our children that we can't celebrate their birthday? The short answer is, we don't have to. We can either reschedule the events (and I do not say that lightly as I realise that in itself is no easy feat), or have a small scale celebration at home with our immediate family or house mates.

The word CELEBRATION does not have a size restriction. A celebration doesn't need to be big. Ever heard the saying, less is more? Well sometimes it is. At the end of the day, it's our only choice at the moment. The celebration can still be a happy one. On the plus side, it may be a little less stressful and it could also be a more economical solution at this point in time.

Okay, so here are some ideas:

Let's start with my favourite party product, Balloons! They make everything better! These days they come in every shape, colour and style, yes that includes numbers and even 'script font' word balloons. This makes them perfect for birthdays and anniversaries.

Don't be scared to try your hand at ballooning. It's actually easier than it looks. Have a go at one of our many balloon garland kits. They include everything you need to make a stunning feature (including simple to follow instructions) And don't forget, I am always at the other end of an email, Instagram direct message or Facebook private message to answer any questions you may have. Alternately, you'll find some video links on our website or countless video tutorials on YouTube.

Everybody loves a treat right? And food is a great way to do that. Bake your child a birthday cake and jazz it up with a cake topper. Make some cupcakes in sweet cupcake wrappers and other yummy treats. There's also the option of freezing any extra from your batch, to prevent wastage and/or use as school holiday treats.

For those who are expecting, you may like to have a little baby shower with your partner and/or future siblings. We have some cute little products to help them share the news. Then there's engagement, pregnancy and/or gender reveal announcements. Now's the time to be posting those snaps and announcements on social media because lets face it, that's where most people are right now.

Set up a sweet little cake or dessert table for the family. Here are a few examples, however be sure to head to our Celebrate at Home Pinterest board which is being updated daily..

She’s a Gem 💜💎 This is what Carly from Sassy Snaps Perth says about her mum Kim. I say she’s a little gem too given she organised this small last minute gathering at sunset for her mums 45th birthday. All at 37 weeks pregnant🤰💖

Not only does our son Jacob love Wolves, he is always hungry like one. We thought this would be the perfect theme for his family afternoon tea.
